One author’s conundrum…

This is an interesting post by Acorn Author Services client Debra Kristi. I gave her my two cents…what are your thoughts??
The conundrum―agents and publishers told me to change the opening to my YA, cut the scene and start with chapter two―or at least something different. Beta readers (yes, more than one) say they love the opener and the story is less engaging without that particular scene. Ugh! Follow the story as it speaks to me in my gut, am I right? – Debra Kristi, The Moorigad Dragon (http://www.debrakristi.com/)
